About the event
Hymid is a technical injection moulding specialist that provides design consultancy and manufacturing expertise for clients that demand a top-end service at every stage of their product development life cycle.
How we will be involved with National Manufacturing Day:
Pupils from four local schools will be granted access to the various areas of the business and offered the opportunity to take part in a design competition, with the added incentive of winning a Chilly’s water bottle (one of our customers) for the best design.
The basic structure of the day is as follows: 15 students per school (4x schools) will attend across two sessions (15x2 schools per session). The students will take part in various activities around the business (Production, Supply, Tool Room, etc.) and will take part in a design competition (to be determined) in groups of 5. The winning team’s design will be 3D printed and presented to at a school assembly in the following weeks.
This year we have invited a number of local politicians to attend the event and have received a number of confirmations – we will have Kevin Foster (MP for Torbay), the Mayor of Torquay and one of our local councillors, Mandy Darling in attendance. We are also hoping for local press to attend the event. We have a representative from MAKE UK in attendance and will be welcoming Phil Halse from SWMAS, who will be running a torch-building exercise in the Conference Room.
