Caterpillar Peterlee Our event will take place on NMD Day: Thursday 25 September 2025
About us
Caterpillar Peterlee is a technology leader in the design and manufacture of Articulated Trucks for the earthmoving, mining & quarry industry.
We are the worldwide manufacturing source for Caterpillar Articulated Trucks. Articulated Trucks are 6 wheel-drive hauling units designed for a wide range of terrain and job conditions. Using the latest computer analysis techniques, robotic technology and a state-of-the-art paint plant, the facility manufactures 6 models ranging from 26 to 43.5 tons hauling capacity and to various engine emissions.
How we will be involved with National Manufacturing Day:
Caterpillar Peterlee will be opening their doors to a couple of local schools to come on site to have an insight into Manufacturing. Throughout the day we will be hosting factory tours and delivering some engineering based activities.

Our Caterpillar facility in Peterborough is the manufacturing location for Cat® industrial engines and Perkins engines.
The facility produces Cat industrial engines from 0.5-7.1 litres to meet the needs of equipment manufacturers across the world. These engines power thousands of unique applications for many of the leading OEMs whose equipment complements customers' Cat equipment fleets. Designed to power machines operating in the harshest environments, customers trust Cat engines to deliver performance and reliability backed by the global Cat dealer network.
Perkins’ 0.5-7.1 litre industrial power solutions are manufactured in Peterborough. Working in collaboration with over 800 original equipment manufacturers in the agricultural, construction, electric power generation, industrial and materials handling markets, Perkins has nearly nine decades of experience of designing, building and servicing industrial engines. With more than 21 million engines manufactured powering over 5,000 different applications across the world, Perkins engines are supported by a global distribution network.
How we will be involved with National Manufacturing Day:
We are inviting in students to tour our facility to learn about our business as well as share future career opportunities inc our graduate and apprenticeship schemes. We will also be hosting a Centennial open day for our employees and their families to celebrate our 100 year anniversary.
